The tour begins by heading out to the Île aux Oiseaux and its oyster farms. At low tide, the Bay empties by almost 2/3 to reveal vast expanses of land and 175 hectares of oyster farms.
The captain will be delighted to explain historical and modern techniques, the birth of oysters to their various distribution channels and the development of mechanised tools from the pinasse sailboat to the aluminium oyster ferryboat…
What you need to know
- Environmental tour of the oyster beds.
- Wheelchair access possible from Thiers Pier (Arcachon) but is difficult at low tide. We recommend contacting our office 72 hours in advance in order to determine the feasibility of boarding.
